PULPIT EXCHANGE – SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 12th. Six congregations of the Delavan Council of Churches are participating in a Pulpit Exchange on Sunday, February 12th.  Pastor Stan Curtis from Delavan United Methodist Church will be our guest preacher and worship leader.

Pastor Curtis is a second career person becoming an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church in 1994. He has served congregations in Madison, Arlington and De Forest, Melrose and Cataract, and Lead pastor of four congregations in the Beloit area before coming to Delavan the first week of January, 2010, and is currently the circuit leader for the United Methodist congregations in Whitewater, LaGrange, Richmond, Darien and Sharon as well as here in Delavan.  Pastor Curtis grew up in the Lutheran Church (LCA) and married his wife Lynn in 1970 at Good                Shepherd Lutheran in La Crosse, WI.  They  have two children, Seren  who lives in Stoughton, WI and Ryan who lives in Raleigh, NC.  They are expecting to be grandparents sometime this coming summer.  They love camping and traveling together, and he loves photography.

Let us warmly welcome Pastor Curtis on this day.  Pastor Elisa Brandt will be preaching and leading at Delavan United Methodist.

“Souper Bowl of Caring” February 5, 2012
Please bring a non-perishable food item,
cash or check will be accepted. (made out to Delavan Food Pantry)

More than 20 years ago, Souper Bowl of Caring
began with a simple prayer from a single youth group:
“Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game,
help us to be mindful of those without
even a bowl of soup to eat.”

Since that day, more than $81 million has been raised for local charities across the country through Souper Bowl of Caring. It has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around Super Bowl weekend into the nation’s largest celebration of giving and serving.

Through this mission, young people learn what it’s like to make a positive difference in the world – as they collect food, raise money and volunteer to work in charities that provide shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry and compassion to those in need. Be part of this movement that is sharing God’s love with those in need. Please give generously on Super Bowl Sunday. Every dollar donated goes to
Delavan Food Pantry, our 2012 Souper Bowl of Caring charity of choice.

The In-Reach Committee invites everyone to the annual Luther Memorial Mardi Gras celebration on Sunday, February 19th immediately following The Journey.  This year’s Mardi Gras will be a fundraiser for our youth heading to New Orleans for the ELCA Youth Gathering.
